Lost book policy

Library users are responsible for the books they have borrowed from the Library. If they lose the book while on loan, the lost item must be reported immediately to the circulation counter. The Library will give a period of 14-days for the user to search for the lost book. There will be no fines charged if the book is returned within this period. If the user is unable to locate the lost book within 14 days, a lost book fee will be charged based on the actual cost of the lost book plus an RM10.00 processing fee in addition to any outstanding penalty accrued. Please refer to the Fines and Penalty section.

If the actual cost of the lost book is no longer available, the following amount will be charged to the user.

Fiction Books Flat rate RM20.00
Non-Fiction and Academic Books Softcover with pages 500 and below RM50.00
Non-Fiction and Academic Books Softcover with pages 501 and above RM60.00
Non-Fiction and Academic Books Hardcover with pages 500 and below/td> RM80.00
Non-Fiction and Academic Books Hardcover with pages 501 and above RM90.00

Alternatively, users have the option of replacing missing books by purchasing a second-hand copy. The replacement copy must be an exact copy or the most recent edition. The Library will not accept a replacement copy that is in poor condition, a photocopy, or pages that have gone yellow or have been highlighted with markers.

If the book is found after the amount has been paid, a refund cannot be requested.
